Kingspan’s wall and roof systems provide optimum sustainability life cycle construction from a building’s initial design through end life recycling and all phases between. Increasing insulation and building envelope air tightness is key to reducing energy use in buildings. Rigid urethane insulated wall and roof systems optimize thermal efficiency and air-tightness, thereby preventing unnecessary heat transfer. This provides substantial reduction of CO2 emissions and contributes to the goals of minimizing global warming and consequential climate change. An additional value of insulated wall and roof systems is that they maintain their exceptional thermal performance throughout their lifetime, which is a key requirement for any sustainable solution. Kingspan’s insulated wall and roof systems can reduce energy use by up to 60% as compared to traditional building methods such as pre-cast and tilt up.
While Morin single element metal wall and roof panels are not insulated, they do possess many green benefits through their commitment to partnering with steel suppliers who are likewise looking to reduce the harmful effects of extraction and processing of virgin materials. Morin’s Concealed Fastener Wall, Exposed Fastener Wall, Standing Seam Roof, and Exposed Fastened Roof Panels contain an average post industrial recycled content of 5% and an average post consumer recycled content that varies from 20% to 25% for Galvalume, and a total recycled content of approximately 60% for stainless steel. Aluminum recycled content of up to 92%.
Not only are all of our metal skins recyclable, but our systems can also be re-used. Kingspan wall and roof panels have a life cycle which may exceed 40 years. Re-use of construction products offers even greater environmental advantages than recycling.
Kingspan proudly partners with Valspar® paints. With Valspar’s cool color pallet, we are able to contribute to several LEED credits including Sustainable Sites credit 7.2- Heat Island Effect—Roof and Indoor Environmental Quality credit 4.2- Low-Emitting Materials—Paints and Coatings.
